Job summary

Horizons Alternative Provision Academy is seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team, supporting pupils across diverse pathways. You will work with pupils of varying abilities and needs, providing targeted assistance to access learning and progress.

The role may involve working with individuals, small groups, or whole classes under a named teacher. You will have HLTA standards or equivalent, plus a Level 2 qualification in English and mathematics.

Qualifications

• Higher Level Teaching Assistant standards or equivalent qualification/experience.
• Level 2 qualification or equivalent in English and mathematics.
• Relevant training in learning strategies or curricular-focused training.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver learning activities for individuals, small groups or whole classes under a named teacher.
• Produce and adapt schemes of work, lesson plans and materials to meet needs.
• Support literacy, numeracy and basic skills programmes.
• Contribute to interventions and out-of-school activities that extend learning.
• Use ICT to support learning and student independence and safe use of technology.
• Monitor, assess, and report student progress in collaboration with colleagues.
• Provide constructive and formative feedback to aid development.
• Promote positive behaviour and a safe, focused learning environment.
• Develop and review provision plans and contribute to annual reviews where appropriate.
• Build positive relationships with students, families and professionals to support wellbeing and inclusion.
