Job summary

Carrington West is seeking an experienced Highway Engineer in West Yorkshire for a 6-month contract, offering hybrid working. The role focuses on ownership of highway design, safety and project delivery across capital schemes.

You will deliver design solutions, manage small to medium schemes, and ensure health and safety throughout the design and construction phases. A driving licence and public-sector highway experience are required.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering highway safety schemes.
• Knowledge of DMRB and MMHW.
• Experience in public-sector highways.
• Proven project management across small to medium schemes.
• Strong AutoCAD capability.
• Valid driving licence.
• Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and delivery of capital highway schemes of varying size and complexity.
• Provide highway engineering design, technical advice and project management.
• Develop highway safety schemes in accordance with DMRB and MMHW.
• Prepare practical design solutions against defined project briefs using AutoCAD.
• Project manage small to medium-sized highway schemes through delivery.
• Identify and manage health and safety risks throughout design and construction.
• Undertake highway safety and TRO work in response to public and stakeholder concerns.
• Liaise with internal teams and external designers and stakeholders.
