Job summary

North Somerset Council is seeking a Health and Wellbeing Officer to lead the Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy and support mental health initiatives across partners. The role sits within the Mental Wellbeing and Community Development Team and focuses on governance, monitoring and grant activity.

The post requires a public health qualification, strong project coordination and data interpretation skills, plus a commitment to reducing health inequalities in a collaborative, hybrid-working

Qualifications

• Degree-level qualification in public health, health improvement or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Strong project coordination skills, including planning, prioritisation and monitoring progress.
• Experience of partnership working across organisations and sectors.
• Ability to analyse and interpret data and translate findings into clear recommendations.
• Experience of monitoring and reporting processes, including producing high-quality reports.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including working on complex or sensitive issues.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, monitor and support delivery of the Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy and mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy.
• Lead monitoring, reporting and governance processes, including six-monthly and annual reporting.
• Develop and manage grant programmes, including initiatives to increase lived experience involvement.
• Lead key programmes including a multi-agency network to improve men's mental health and wellbeing.
• Analyse and interpret data, health intelligence and insight to inform decision-making and service improvement.
• Build and maintain strong partnerships across the council, health and care system, and VCFSE sector.
• Support programme delivery, communications and stakeholder engagement activity.
• Lead or support meetings, forums and multi-agency groups to strengthen collaboration and reduce inequality.
