Job summary

City of Wolverhampton Council is seeking a Health and Safety Advisor to provide expert advice across a broad range of services. You will undertake audits, investigations and assurance activities, and support managers with incident reporting and CDM compliance.

The role requires NEBOSH Diploma and IOSH membership, with a proactive, collaborative approach and a commitment to professional development. The position offers hybrid working arrangements and a competitive grade 7 salary.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
• Graduate IOSH membership or equivalent.
• Experience providing professional health and safety advice.
• Experience of audits, inspections and accident investigations.
• Strong communication and influencing skills with stakeholders.
• Ability to prioritize workload and work on own initiative.
• Practical and proportionate risk management approach.
• Excellent report writing, presentation and facilitation skills.
• Commitment to continuous professional development.

Responsibilities

• Provide health and safety advice, guidance and support across Council services.
• Undertake audits, inspections and assurance activities.
• Support managers in investigations and RIDDOR reporting requirements.
• Develop and implement health and safety policies, procedures and training.
• Deliver engaging health and safety training and awareness sessions.
• Analyse performance information and prepare reports for managers.
• Support construction and property activities, including CDM and compliance risks.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to improve health and safety performance.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of the Council's health and safety framework.
