Job summary

Havant Borough Council is seeking a GIS Specialist to join its in-house geospatial team. You will deliver mapping, spatial data and web mapping services, maintain GIS datasets and support users across the Council, helping shape digital transformation and decision-making.

The role offers flexible/hybrid working, and opportunities to develop technical skills while contributing to residents and partner organisations.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in GIS, Geography, Geospatial Science, Data Management or a related discipline, or substantial equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with GIS software and web mapping systems, including QGIS or equivalent GIS platforms.

Responsibilities

• Deliver mapping, spatial data and web mapping services for colleagues, residents and partner organisations.
• Create clear digital maps and spatial reports; maintain GIS datasets and applications.
• Support users across the Council and ensure data accuracy, quality and reliability.
• Help shape how geographic information is used for decision-making and digital transformation.
• Work independently on operational GIS matters while escalating issues when needed.
