Job summary

Havant Borough Council is bringing its GIS function in-house and is seeking a GIS Specialist to join our new geospatial team. You will deliver mapping, spatial data and web mapping services for colleagues, residents and partner organisations; create clear digital maps and spatial reports; maintain GIS datasets and applications; and support users across the Council.

Qualifications

• Qualification in GIS or related field, or substantial equivalent practical experience.
• Experience using GIS software and web mapping such as QGIS.
• Produce accurate digital maps, site plans and spatial data products.
• Knowledge of spatial data management, GIS databases, metadata and web-enabled GIS.
• Experience maintaining spatial datasets and ensuring data quality.
• Knowledge of LLPG principles and BS7666 standards.
• Maintain web mapping layers and support users with technical queries.
• Ability to work independently and escalate when needed.
• Attention to detail and maintaining audit trails.
• Ability to analyse spatial information and communicate to various audiences.
• Strong customer service, communication, organisation and problem-solving.
• Experience of data cleansing, spatial analysis, map publishing, digital transformation.
