Job summary

PE Global is recruiting an Embedded Firmware Engineer for a technology client in Cambourne on a 24-month hybrid contract (minimum 2 days onsite per week). You will design, develop, debug and optimize low-power firmware for STM32-based IoT devices, in an RTOS environment, with GNSS/LoRa/Lorawan integration and hardware peripheral support.

The role requires ~5 years of C/C++ embedded experience, STM32 expertise, experience with debugging tools, hardware schematics reading, and Git-based

Qualifications

• Approximately five years of embedded software engineering experience using C/C++.
• Hands-on experience with STM32 microcontrollers and embedded debugging.
• Proven delivery of low-power firmware for battery-operated devices.
• Experience with GNSS, LoRa or LoRaWAN, embedded peripherals, and an RTOS.
• Ability to work independently and deliver production-ready, maintainable firmware.
• Experience reading hardware schematics and PCB layouts.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or comparable tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, debug and optimize embedded firmware for STM32-based IoT devices.
• Integrate GNSS, LoRa or LoRaWAN and hardware peripherals.
• Develop within an RTOS environment.
• Deliver reliable, maintainable production-ready firmware in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
