Job summary

PE Global is seeking an experienced Electronics Hardware Engineer for a hybrid role in Cambourne. The 24-month contract requires on-site presence at least two days per week, with responsibilities spanning full hardware lifecycle, from requirements to production release.

You will design digital, analogue and mixed-signal electronics for battery-powered IoT devices, select components, and lead prototype bring-up and debugging, while ensuring EMI/EMC and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• BSc or equivalent in Electrical/Electronics Engineering.
• 6–8 years of hands-on board-level electronics development.
• Proven experience taking hardware products from spec to production release.
• Embedded MCUs and interfaces (I2C, SPI, UART).
• Low-power/battery-powered embedded system experience.
• Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Altium Designer.

Responsibilities

• Own the full board-level hardware development lifecycle from requirements to production release.
• Design and develop digital, analogue and mixed-signal electronics for IoT devices.
• Select components and provide PCB layout guidance.
• Lead prototype bring-up, hardware debugging and firmware/hardware integration.
• Plan and execute design verification and validation activities.
• Develop designs meeting EMI/EMC, regulatory and manufacturability needs.
• Produce specifications, calculations, test plans, and production-release docs.
• Support engineering changes, root-cause investigations and product improvements.
• Collaborate with firmware, software, mechanical, systems and product teams.
