Job summary

PE Global is recruiting an Embedded Firmware Engineer to join our technology client based in Cambourne. The role is a 24-month contract, hybrid with a minimum of 2 days onsite.

As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will design, develop, debug, and optimize firmware for resource-constrained, low-power IoT devices, including STM32-based devices. You will integrate GNSS, LoRa or LoRaWAN, and work within an RTOS environment, collaborating with teams in the UK, Israel and California to deliver

Qualifications

• Five years of embedded software engineering experience using C/C++.
• Hands-on experience with STM32 microcontrollers and embedded debugging.
• Proven delivery of low-power firmware for battery-operated devices.
• Experience with GNSS, LoRa or LoRaWAN, embedded peripherals, and an RTOS.
• Ability to deliver production-ready, maintainable firmware.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, debug, and optimize embedded firmware for low-power STM32-based IoT devices.

Job description

PE Global is currently recruiting for an Embedded Firmware Engineer to join our technology client based in Cambourne. The role is an initial 24 month contract, working on a hybrid basis with a minimum of 2 days per week onsite.

As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will have significant impact on our multidisciplinary R&D projects, grow with us as we venture into new technologies, and contribute to the connected devices line of products throughout both discovery and delivery. You will design, develop, debug, and optimize robust, production-ready firmware for resource-constrained, low-power IoT devices.

The responsibilities will include designing, developing, debugging, and optimizing embedded firmware for low-power STM32-based IoT devices; integrating GNSS, LoRa or LoRaWAN, and hardware peripherals; Developing within an RTOS environment; and delivering reliable, maintainable, production-ready code in collaboration with multidisciplinary product and platform teams in the UK, Israel and California, USA.

Requirements

• Approximately five years of embedded software engineering experience using C/C++.
• Hands-on experience with STM32 microcontrollers and embedded debugging.
• Proven delivery of low-power firmware for battery-operated devices.
• Experience with GNSS, LoRa or LoRaWAN, embedded peripherals, and an RTOS.
• Ability to work independently and deliver production-ready, maintainable firmware.

Desirable Skills

• Experience with u-blox M10 or newer GNSS architectures.
• Familiarity with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, and J-Link or ST-Link.
• Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Ability to read hardware schematics and PCB layouts.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or comparable tools.
