Job summary

Gallagher Bassett is seeking a Casualty Defence Claims Handler to take ownership of a portfolio of EL/PL claims, delivering timely, commercially focused outcomes. This hybrid role can be based from Tamworth or Blisworth, with support from an experienced team and flexible hours.

You will manage claim investigations, liaise with clients and third parties, and negotiate settlements, contributing to effective risk management and client service. Eligible to work in the UK is required.

Qualifications

• Experience handling EL/PL claims in insurer/TPA/law firm/defence.
• Knowledge of personal injury and liability principles.
• Self-motivated and proactive with initiative.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organisational skills and multi-case management.
• Flexibility to work additional hours when needed.
• Eligible to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of EL/PL claims from first notification to settlement.
• Set up and acknowledge new claims with clear client communication.
• Conduct liability investigations with evidence collection.
• Liaise with insured clients, brokers and third parties to progress claims.
• Accurately reserve files and monitor reserves.
• Negotiate settlements with claimants, insurers and legal firms.
• Assess quantum using guidelines and medical evidence.
• Identify potential fraud indicators and escalate appropriately.
• Ensure compliance with Pre-Action Protocols for EL/PL claims.
• Prepare file summaries, reports and recommendations for clients.
• Support Claims Managers and Defence Operations Manager as needed.
