Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking a Design Safety Compliance Advisor to join our multidisciplinary teams delivering major power, electricity transmission, renewables, and energy infrastructure projects across the UK. You will provide guidance on CDM 2015, Safety in Design, and regulatory compliance to help identify and mitigate health and safety risks throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Experience in Design Safety, CDM advisory, or health and safety compliance roles.
• Strong knowledge of CDM 2015 and UK health and safety legislation.
• Experience working on energy, utilities, infrastructure, engineering, or construction projects.
• Ability to facilitate workshops and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Membership of, or working towards membership of, a relevant professional body (e.g., IOSH, APS, IIRSM).

Responsibilities

• Provide CDM 2015 and Safety in Design guidance to project teams.
• Facilitate design risk assessments, hazard workshops, and risk reviews.
• Support designers in eliminating, reducing, and controlling risks at source.
• Review and maintain hazard records and design risk registers.
• Undertake CDM compliance audits, gap analyses, and assurance activities.
• Assist in the development of Pre-Construction Information (PCI) and Health & Safety File requirements.
• Engage with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to support effective risk management.
• Promote best practice and continuous improvement in design safety and compliance.
• Support major infrastructure projects across transmission, distribution, HVDC, substations, renewables, and low-carbon energy sectors.
