Job summary

Entanet is seeking a Systems Infrastructure Engineer to manage on-premise and hybrid cloud infrastructure, including Linux administration, OpenStack/Proxmox, and migrations to AWS or other cloud environments.

This hands-on role works with Networks Architects on shared systems such as RADIUS, DNS, NMS, and logging, and emphasizes automation with Ansible, Terraform, and other tools. Office-based in Telford, with an on-call rota.

Qualifications

• Strong Linux/OS administration in production environments.
• Experience with virtualization platforms (OpenStack, Proxmox or equivalent).
• Understanding of on-premise to cloud migration, including data extraction.
• Familiarity with network-adjacent systems such as FreeRADIUS/TACACS+ and DNS with centralised logging.
• Secure-by-design systems, aligned with security standards and frameworks.
• Scripting (Bash, Python) and automation (Ansible, Terraform).
• Collaborative and cross-functional work across infra and network teams.
• Comfort with AI-assisted tooling to speed deployments and reduce errors.

Responsibilities

• Manage on-premise server and storage infrastructure across two data centres, including OpenStack and Proxmox environments.
• Manage cloud (AWS) environments, provisioning via infrastructure-as-code.
• Support migration from CityFibre systems and replacement of core services.
• Own Linux OS administration, patching, virtualization, and automated provisioning.
• Collaborate with Networks on NMS, DNS, FreeRADIUS, TACACS+/AAA, logging.
• Assist Cloud/AWS Engineer on migrations requiring data extraction from on-prem systems.
• Maintain configuration compliance and a reliable patch cadence using automation tooling.
• Use AI-assisted tooling to automate patching, compliance checks and data validation.
• Participate in on-call rota and out-of-hours maintenance.
