Job summary

AXS in London is seeking a Database Engineer to design, build and maintain scalable relational and NoSQL databases across PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, Aurora and MongoDB. The role focuses on cloud-native deployments, performance tuning and secure data practices, with collaboration across DevOps and platform teams.

You will integrate database work into CI/CD, manage IaC with Terraform/CloudFormation, and ensure high availability and disaster recovery while adhering to security and auditing

Qualifications

• Must have experience as a Database Engineer or DBA in cloud environments.
• Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server or Aurora with expertise in at least one.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps or Liquibase).
• Hands-on with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform or CloudFormation).
• AWS knowledge; Azure or GCP considered an advantage.
• Strong database security, encryption and auditing knowledge.
• Experience with Kafka environments.
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain relational and NoSQL databases.
• Integrate deployments into CI/CD pipelines with migrations and testing.
• Improve query performance, indexing and overall reliability.
• Ensure high availability, backup, replication and DR strategies.
• Collaborate with developers, DevOps and platform teams to deliver secure solutions.
• Troubleshoot complex issues and perform root-cause analysis.
