Job summary

AXS is hiring a Database Engineer to design, build and support data platforms powering our products. You will work with PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, Aurora and MongoDB in a cloud-focused environment.

The role focuses on automation, DevOps, performance, monitoring, and security, with collaboration across developers and platform teams. London-based with hybrid work options and flexible hours.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Database Engineer or DBA in a cloud-based environment.
• Deep expertise in at least one DB platform listed (PostgreSQL/Oracle/SQL Server/Aurora).
• Hands-on with CI/CD tools and IaC (Terraform/CloudFormation).
• Familiar with cloud platforms AWS/Azure/GCP.
• Strong security, encryption and auditing practices.
• Experience with Kafka.
• Degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain relational and NoSQL databases.
• Develop scalable database solutions to support goals.
• Integrate deployments into CI/CD pipelines.
• Manage infrastructure as code using Terraform/CloudFormation.
• Optimise queries, indexes and database performance.
• Support high availability, backups and disaster recovery.
• Implement monitoring, alerting and logging.
• Apply encryption and access controls for security.
• Collaborate with developers, DevOps and platform teams.
• Troubleshoot complex issues and perform root-cause analysis.
