Job summary

Hastings Direct is recruiting a Claims Technical Lead – Complex Bodily Injury to head technical capability within the Motor Bodily Injury function, supporting development, coaching and decision‑making for high‑value claims up to £250k.

Hybrid work options in Leicester, London, or Bexhill; you will shape standards and governance while driving efficiencies on high‑value cases and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Significant experience handling high‑value motor bodily injury claims, ideally up to £500k.
• Deep knowledge of indemnity principles, insurance contracts, RTA, BI legislation and related protocols (CPR, JCG, Consumer Duty, MOJ, OIC, Intermediate Track).
• Proven coaching/mentoring ability with constructive feedback on high‑value files.
• Strong complaints handling experience aligned with regulatory expectations.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Head of Large Loss to define and implement technical strategy for claims up to £250k.
• Design and implement a development pathway to enhance technical capability and progression.
• Provide coaching and technical guidance to senior handlers as primary referral point.
• Work with frontline and leadership teams to improve assessment and resolution of high‑value cases and identify efficiencies.
• Monitor changes in the bodily injury landscape and ensure teams adapt to new requirements.
• Shape technical standards, quality controls, and governance frameworks to maintain compliance and commercial strength.
