Job summary

Gateshead Council is seeking a Social Work Practitioner to join our Children with Disabilities Team. You will manage a varied caseload, deliver high-quality assessments and interventions, and work with families, schools, and partner agencies to secure positive outcomes for disabled children.

You will need a recognised Social Work qualification, Social Work England registration, and a commitment to safeguarding and excellent service.

Qualifications

• Recognition as a qualified Social Worker with valid registration.
• Ability to conduct high-quality assessments and form robust plans.
• Experience in statutory children’s social care and safeguarding guidance.

Responsibilities

• Take lead in supporting disabled children and young people, ensuring their voices are central in decisions.
• Manage a varied caseload including children in need and looked after children, with assessments and interventions.
• Develop outcome-focused care and pathway plans promoting best interests of children.
• Build strong relationships with families, schools, health colleagues and partner agencies.
