Job summary

Knowsley Council is recruiting an experienced and passionate Children’s Social Worker to join its Children with Disabilities Team. You will manage a varied caseload, assess needs and develop tailored support plans to promote safety, wellbeing and development for disabled children and young people up to 18.

Hybrid working is available at Nutgrove Villa, with supervisor support and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• A recognised Social Work qualification.
• Current registration with Social Work England.
• Experience working within statutory children’s social care.
• Experience managing a caseload and undertaking assessments of children and families.
• Experience of direct work with children, young people and their families.
• Strong communication, relationship-building and collaborative working skills.
• Ability to manage complex cases, assess risk and exercise sound professional judgement.
• A commitment to relationship-based and strengths-based social work practice.
• Enhanced DBS clearance.
• Must have the right to work in the UK without requiring sponsorship.
• Experience working with children with disabilities (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload of children and young people within a statutory children’s services setting.
• Undertake assessments to identify children’s needs, risks and appropriate support.
• Develop, implement and review personalised care and support plans.
• Undertake direct work with children, young people and their families, building positive and trusting relationships.
• Work collaboratively with parents, carers and multi-agency professionals, including health, education and other social care services.
• Identify and coordinate appropriate support packages to meet the individual needs of disabled children and their families.
• Respond to safeguarding concerns and manage complex situations, ensuring children’s safety and welfare remain a priority.
• Monitor progress and review interventions to achieve positive and sustainable outcomes. Maintain accurate case records, assessments and reports in line with statutory requirements.
• Participate in team meetings, reflective supervision and ongoing professional development.
