Job summary

Knowsley Council in Knowsley, Merseyside is recruiting an experienced Social Worker to join the Children with Disabilities Team on a permanent basis. You will assess and support disabled children and young people, working with families to develop plans and packages of care.

This hybrid role offers a manageable caseload, strong supervision, and clear development pathways through the Social Work Academy, with opportunities for flexible hours and progression within a supportive service.

Qualifications

• Hold a recognised Social Work qualification.
• Be registered with Social Work England.
• Have experience working within statutory Children's Social Care.
• Be confident managing your own caseload.
• Have experience completing assessments and direct work with children and young people.
• Demonstrate strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Be committed to relationship-based and strengths-based practice.
• Be reflective, motivated and committed to continued professional development.
• Be passionate about achieving positive and lasting outcomes for children and families.

Responsibilities

• Managing a varied caseload within statutory Children's Social Care.
• Completing assessments of children and young people's needs.
• Undertaking direct work with children, young people and their families.
• Developing and reviewing appropriate plans and packages of support.
• Managing complex situations using sound professional judgement.
• Working collaboratively with families and multi-agency professionals.
• Promoting relationship-based and strengths-based social work practice.
• Ensuring the voice of the child remains central to assessment and planning.
