Butler Rose Ltd in St Ives is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join its accountancy practice on a hybrid basis, offering £26,000–£27,500 per year. You will manage day-to-day bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients, processing invoices, reconciling bank statements and preparing VAT returns.

The role involves regular client contact and collaboration with the wider accounts team to ensure accurate reporting and timely deadlines.

Qualifications

• Previous bookkeeping experience is essential.
• Practice experience is preferred.
• Experience managing a portfolio of clients would be advantageous.
• Previous experience using Xero is required.
• Experience using Sage is desirable, although training will be provided.
• Good understanding of bookkeeping processes, including VAT and reconciliations.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Confident communicating with clients by telephone, email and face-to-face.
• Able to work independently while also contributing effectively to a wider accounts team.

Responsibilities

• Manage the bookkeeping requirements of a portfolio of external clients.
• Post and process sales and purchase invoices.
• Complete regular bank reconciliations.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns.
• Respond to ad hoc client queries via email, telephone and face-to-face.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date bookkeeping records.
• Work closely with the accounts team to support accurate reporting.
• Manage bookkeeping tasks across a varied client portfolio and meet relevant deadlines.
