Job summary

Butler Rose Ltd in Spalding is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant to join its friendly, professional team.

You will manage bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients, use Xero, prepare VAT returns and assist with accounts preparation, bank reconciliations and client queries with high accuracy.

The role offers 25 days’ annual leave, free parking next to the office and the opportunity to work with modern cloud-based accounting technology in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Previous bookkeeping or accounts role, ideally in practice.
• Strong Xero experience and VAT returns knowledge.
• Accurate, autonomous and detail‑oriented with good organisation.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and maintaining accurate bookkeeping records for a portfolio of clients.
• Using Xero to complete bookkeeping and maintain client accounts.
• Preparing and submitting VAT returns, ensuring deadlines are met.
• Processing purchase and sales invoices, bank transactions and other entries.
• Reconciling bank accounts and maintaining records.
• Assisting with accounts preparation and financial information.
• Liaising with clients to obtain information and resolve queries.
• Ensuring client records are complete and up to date.
• Identifying discrepancies and taking appropriate action.
• Supporting the wider accounts team with general duties.
