Job summary

Horsham District Council is seeking an Apprentice Mechanic to join the Vehicle Maintenance Team. You will assist with maintenance and repairs on Council vehicles, and perform safety checks to ensure vehicles meet manufacturer standards.

You will undertake a Motor Vehicle Service & Maintenance Technician (Light Vehicle) Level 3 Apprenticeship with 20% off-the-job learning, supported by on-the-job mentoring and resources to develop diagnosis, routine maintenance and record-keeping skills

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at grade 4/C (or equivalent).
• Good communication skills in a workshop environment.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist vehicle fitters with maintenance and repairs of Council vehicles.
• Perform regular vehicle safety checks and inspections to ensure roadworthiness.
• Maintain accurate service records in line with Operator Licence requirements.
