Job summary

Apex Fintech Solutions is seeking a skilled Application Support Engineer to join the production support team in a hybrid Belfast office. You will serve as the primary escalation point for production issues, collaborating with engineering to resolve complex problems and leveraging AI tooling to automate repetitive tasks.

You will monitor performance, manage access and change activities, and contribute to runbooks, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge bases while mentoring newer engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
• 3+ years of experience in application support, preferably in financial services or trading.
• 2+ years in a customer-facing role.
• Strong foundational knowledge of networking, operating systems (Linux/Windows), and databases (MSSQL and/or NoSQL).
• Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants or LLM-based tooling in a professional setting.
• Ability to read and modify application code in a compiled language (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary escalation point for production issues and coordinate with engineering to resolve complex problems.
• Lead major incident responses with impact analysis and actionable recommendations.
• Monitor system performance and availability to prevent client impact.
• Manage production access, configuration, and change management activities.
• Build and maintain automations and AI assets with validation before production use.
• Collaborate with development teams on fixes and improvements and mentor junior engineers.
• Create and maintain runbooks, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge base articles.
