Job summary

Apex Fintech Solutions (Apex) is seeking a skilled Application Support Engineer to join our production support team in a hybrid Belfast-based role.

You will act as the primary escalation point for production issues, work with engineering to resolve complex problems, and leverage AI tooling to automate repetitive tasks while ensuring client-facing stability.

The position requires strong networking, OS, and database knowledge, plus scripting in Python or PowerShell, and a customer-focused approach.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
3+ years in application support, preferably in financial services or trading environments.
2+ years in a customer-facing role.
Solid knowledge of networking, OS (Linux/Windows), and databases (MSSQL/NoSQL).
Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants or LLM tooling in a professional setting.
Ability to read and modify application code in a compiled language is a plus.

Responsibilities

Incident and escalation response; own complex production issues end to end.
Serve as escalation point for frontline support; communicate with clients.
Participate in major incident response with impact analysis and recommendations.
Monitor system performance and availability; resolve issues proactively.
Manage production access and support configuration/change management.
Automation and AI tooling; build automations and reusable AI assets.
Validate AI outputs before they reach clients or production.
Collaborate with development teams on fixes and improvements; mentor others.
Create and maintain runbooks, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge base articles.
