Job summary

CPS Group in Cardiff is seeking an Application Support Engineer to join the Engineering team, providing 2nd line support for fintech software, triaging issues, and using SQL to investigate data problems.

This hybrid role requires collaboration with Service Delivery and Engineering, tackling incidents in an Agile environment, and ensuring reliable Web/PC-based applications with strong troubleshooting and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Experience in Application or Technical Support.
• Working knowledge of Web/PC environments.
• Experience with Jira or similar.
• Experience with Bitbucket or similar.
• Strong SQL skills (SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE and DELETE/System procedures/System procedures).
• Experience with PowerShell or another scripting language.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Clear communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide 2nd line application support.
• Triage and investigate technical issues.
• Troubleshoot application and data problems.
• Use SQL to investigate and fix data issues.
• Track incidents through an issue management system.
• Escalate complex or urgent issues where required.
• Work closely with Engineering and Service Delivery.
• Support Web/PC-based applications.
• Work within an Agile development environment.
