Job summary

Stoke-on-Trent City Council is seeking a Waste Operative to support site operations and ensure efficient receipt, storage, handling and export of waste and recyclables. This role emphasizes adherence to the Waste Hierarchy and maximising segregation to reach recycling targets.

You will drive and operate the assigned vehicle as required for storage and transport of waste and recyclables, follow site rules, report incidents to the Operations Team Leader, and assist the public to achieve correct

Responsibilities

• Contribute to and support the site's operations in the receipt, storage, handling and export of waste and recyclable materials.
• Adhere to the Waste Hierarchy at all times and work to maximise segregation to reach recycling targets.
• Drive and operate the assigned plant, shunter hook-lift vehicle and road hook-light as required for storage and transporting waste and recyclables.
• Follow site rules and adhere to speed limits and reversing procedures including using a banks persona when required.
• Report any accidents or incidents to the Operations Team Leader.
• Assist and direct the public on site to ensure correct segregation of waste and recyclable materials.
