Job summary

BAM UK & Ireland's Infrastructure Segment is seeking a Mechanical Site Engineer to join the EGL2 project teams in the Drax area, North Yorkshire. On a large HVDC transmission link, you will supervise HVAC installations, coordinate with electrical and other trades, and ensure work aligns with DW/144 and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the installation of HVAC systems in HVDC Converter Station (AHUs, Dehumidifiers, HRUs, VRF, DX).
• Direct and manage subcontractors to ensure safe, efficient delivery of HVAC packages.
• Lead safety: enforce HSQE procedures and permits-to-work.
• Review subcontractor risk assessments, method statements, and safety docs before and during work.
• Coordinate with electrical and other trades to sequence M&E works and resolve interfaces.
• Ensure plant/equipment installations meet drawings, specs, and DW/144/CIBSE requirements.
• Assist in labour, plant, and materials planning to meet milestones.
• Monitor workmanship and perform inspections and testing for quality.
• Maintain records: test docs, commissioning docs, logs, progress reports.
• Communicate with project managers, engineers, QS, safety officers, and clients.
• Support commissioning and handover with testing and inspections.
• Maintain professional site environment and organize areas safely.
• Address technical/workforce issues promptly to prevent delays.
• Ensure statutory inspections and testing are completed and documented.
• Participate in safety, programme, and progress meetings.
