Job summary

WSP in the UK's & Ireland's offshore transmission team is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support HVDC systems across all lifecycle stages, collaborating with asset owners and operators.

You will provide expert HVDC design reviews, witness testing, and contribute to project development, technology selection, and bid reviews, coordinating with multiple disciplines and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Professionally qualified in Electrical Engineering (CEng or working towards).
• Demonstrable understanding of HVDC Station Engineering, Control & Protection and System Studies.
• Ability to coordinate across project disciplines and external subcontractors to manage technical risk and regulatory compliance.
• Interest in developing external (client) and internal relationships with professional bodies.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical advice for HVDC OEM design reviews.
• Witness HVDC OEM factory testing, on-site inspections, and commissioning of HVDC projects.
• Develop HVDC projects with technology review/selection and bid preparation/review.
• Develop technical/functional specs for HVDC converters and design layouts for HVDC stations.
• Coordinate with client project teams and internal disciplines; provide OEM support services.
• Supervise site pre-commissioning and commissioning oversight; conduct due diligence.
