Job summary

GE Grid Solutions in the UK is seeking a Control and Protection Systems Application Engineer to join a dynamic, international team. You will model HVDC system behaviour in PSCAD and translate MATLAB/Simulink algorithms into PSCAD models, contributing across the full project lifecycle.

The role requires an engineering degree in power systems, strong communication skills, and willingness to travel globally to support projects.

Qualifications

Engineering degree or equivalent with power systems focus.
Experience with HVDC systems is preferred.
Ability to communicate requirements to customers.
Experience with PSCAD and other simulation tools.
Willingness to travel globally.

Responsibilities

Support Tendering, Operations, Contractual and After Sales needs.
HVDC System modelling in PSCAD.
AC network modelling in PSCAD and validation.
Dynamic Performance and Protection coordination studies.
Conversion of PSS/E AC networks to PSCAD models and MATLAB Simulink algorithms to PSCAD.
Perform engineering design reviews and mitigate risks.
Understand project milestones and financial impact.
Propose improvements to control/protection strategies.
Develop new strategies for control, protection and sequencing.
Support continual improvement with tools and processes.
