Job summary

MacStaff Limited is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer – HVAC / Building Services on the Hinkley Point C site, Somerset. You will coordinate mechanical packages from design through installation, testing and commissioning, working with design engineers, project managers, suppliers and subcontractors on a major UK energy infrastructure project.

The role offers a basic salary of £55,000–£57,000 per year with a 15% uplift on eligible Hinkley Point work and a lodging allowance of £28,500.

Qualifications

• ,Experience in mechanical project engineering or a similar technical delivery role.
• HNC/HND minimum in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services or a related discipline.
• Understanding of HVAC systems, ductwork, pipework and mechanical installations.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating mechanical engineering activities across design, procurement, fabrication and site installation.
• Reviewing HVAC drawings, mechanical specifications and technical documentation.
• Working with design engineers, project managers, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Supporting design reviews, technical queries and engineering problem-solving.
• Reviewing equipment specifications, materials and technical submissions.
• Coordinating installation of mechanical systems, packaged plant and associated building services.
• Monitoring installation quality, engineering compliance and project progress.
• Supporting inspections, testing, commissioning and technical handovers.
• Liaising with fabrication and manufacturing teams regarding equipment and materials.
• Maintaining engineering records, design changes, technical queries and progress reports.
