Job summary

RG Setsquare is seeking an experienced HVAC Engineer for a Northamptonshire site. The role involves planned, reactive and preventative maintenance across HVAC and building services with an immediate start on a temp-to-perm basis.

The position offers progression to a permanent role paying £40,000 per annum, following a temporary period. The temp pay rate is £25.00 per hour, and the site is a long‑term, well‑established facilities management environment.

Qualifications

• Essential City & Guilds qualifications for F-Gas and ODS regulations.
• NVQ Level 2/3 or diplomas equivalent in HVAC/air conditioning.
• Proven experience in maintenance of HVAC systems in commercial/industrial sites.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive maintenance on HVAC and related systems.
• Carry out reactive maintenance and respond to breakdowns promptly.
• Diagnose faults and perform effective repairs on HVAC/air conditioning.
• Conduct routine inspections and identify system defects or issues.
• Ensure maintenance work complies with health and safety standards.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities.
• Support site operations with building services across the site.
• Collaborate with facilities management and contractors as required.

HVAC Engineer

Location: Northamptonshire

Salary: £40,000 per annum

Initial Pay Rate: £25.00 per hour

The Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced HVAC Engineer to join a facilities management team supporting a large commercial and industrial site in Northamptonshire.

This is an urgent temp-to-perm opportunity, with an immediate start required.

The successful engineer will be responsible for the planned, reactive and preventative maintenance of HVAC and associated building services across the site.

The position offers a strong opportunity for an experienced HVAC Engineer looking for a long-term role, with the initial temporary assignment moving into a permanent position paying £40,000 per annum.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on HVAC and associated mechanical systems.
• Undertake reactive maintenance and respond promptly to breakdowns and faults.
• Diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs across HVAC and air conditioning systems.
• Complete routine inspections and identify potential defects or system issues.
• Ensure all maintenance works are completed safely, efficiently and to the required standard.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and completed works.
• Ensure F-Gas and environmental compliance requirements are followed.
• Work closely with the wider facilities management and engineering team.
• Liaise professionally with site representatives and other contractors where required.
• Support the reliable operation of building services across the site.
• Follow all relevant health and safety procedures, risk assessments and safe systems of work.

About You

We are looking for an experienced HVAC Engineer / Air Conditioning Engineer with strong practical maintenance experience.

Essential Qualifications

• City & Guilds 2079-11 - Category I F-Gas and ODS Regulations
• City & Guilds Level 2 & 3 Diplomas or equivalent Level 2 & 3 NVQ qualifications.

Experience & Skills

• Previous experience working as an HVAC or Air Conditioning Engineer.
• Strong experience in planned and reactive maintenance.
• Good fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Experience working within a commercial, industrial or facilities management environment.
• Good understanding of HVAC and associated building services.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety and safe systems of work.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage day-to-day maintenance requirements.
