Job summary

AECOM seeks a Senior Electrical Design Engineer for HV substations in the UK and Ireland. Based in a hybrid arrangement, you will design primary plant layouts, develop equipment specifications for HV plant, and provide input to major infrastructure projects from concept through energisation.

You will work with utilities and developers, act as Owner's Engineer on HV/substation projects, support renewable connections, and contribute to multi-discipline teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience on HV projects.
• Experience with utilities or developers.
• Designer or project engineer experience.
• Experience developing specs for substation control systems, transformers, GIS and AIS switchgear.
• Ability to work flexibly across multiple projects.
• Fluency in English.
• Experience in technical report writing.
• Full driving licence and access to a personal vehicle.
• Chartered accreditation or working toward status is desirable.
• Consultancy experience.
• Experience reviewing detailed designs and witnessing construction.

Responsibilities

• Produce primary plant layouts for HV substations.
• Produce equipment specifications for HV plant and related equipment.
• Provide engineering design input to major infrastructure projects.
• Undertake an Owners’ Engineer role on HV substation/Cable and OHL projects.
• Provide HV design input to renewable energy projects (e.g., battery storage, solar, hydro, wind).
• Provide professional services to clients in Ireland/UK and overseas.
