Job summary

Deploy Recruitment Group is seeking an experienced Protection and Control Design Engineer to lead HV protection/SCADA design for power infrastructure projects. You will mentor juniors and work with project managers and clients within a Hybrid or Remote setup.

You will deliver protection and control designs for up to 132kV networks, develop relay configurations, and ensure regulatory compliance while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Proven experience in control and protection design within UK electricity distribution or transmission (11kV–132kV).
• Familiarity with protection relays, relay configuration, logic programming and IEC 61850 engineering.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed protection application designs for feeders, transformers, and busbars (11 kV–132 kV).
• Configure relays, generate setting files, implement IEC 61850 and DNP3 schemes, prepare logic documentation.
• Specify CTs/VTs, relays, panels and wiring per NPg standards.
• Provide technical review of designs submitted by ICPs and external teams.
• Conduct protection coordination studies and prepare settings calculations and schematics.
• Ensure designs comply with Northern Powergrid standards and industry regulations.
• Collaborate with internal teams, clients and stakeholders to deliver on time and quality.
• Provide technical support during delivery, including factory acceptance testing and site commissioning.
