HV Energy Infrastructure Lead – Substations & BESS (Scotland)

Job summary

OCU seeks an experienced M&E Construction Manager to drive delivery of major high‑voltage energy infrastructure projects in Scotland. You will lead installation through commissioning, energisation and handover, coordinating with Project Managers, Designers, DNOs, OEMs and contractors to ensure safe, efficient delivery.

The role involves managing HV/LV installations, leading site teams, and maintaining CDM 2015 and RAMS compliance while delivering projects to the highest standards.

Qualifications

• Proven experience managing M&E construction on HV infrastructure or major energy projects.
• Strong understanding of HV/LV electrical installations, RAMS, and CDM 2015.
• Proven ability to lead site teams and subcontractors in demanding environments.
• Qualifications in Construction or Engineering; NEBOSH or IOSH desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate all M&E construction activities across substations, BESS and energy infrastructure.
• Manage site teams, subcontractors, suppliers and project interfaces for safe, efficient delivery.
• Coordinate HV/LV installations including transformers, switchgear, protection & control, SCADA, cabling and earthing.
• Plan construction activities against programme milestones, specifications and project requirements.
• Ensure compliance with CDM 2015, RAMS, permits and quality requirements.
• Monitor progress, productivity and quality, resolving issues proactively.
• Lead inspections, QA activities, ITPs and pre‑commissioning inspections; ensure records and handover documents are complete.
• Coordinate commissioning and energisation with APs, SAPs, DNOs, IDNOs and OEMs.
• Drive health, safety, environmental and quality culture through site leadership and toolbox talks.
• Work with project, commercial, design and client teams to achieve delivery.
