Job summary

Autograph Recruitment is assisting a growing manufacturing and engineering business in the Forest of Dean with the appointment of an experienced HR Officer/HR Advisor. This is a full-time, permanent role where you’ll work closely with employees and managers, providing practical HR guidance while helping to improve processes and engagement.

You’ll take ownership, share ideas and become a trusted point of contact across the business, not just an administrative position.

Qualifications

• Experience as HR Officer/Advisor or similar generalist role.
• Knowledge of current employment law and HR processes.
• Ability to support managers with employee matters.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Proactive and discreet handling of sensitive information.
• Experience in manufacturing or engineering is advantageous but not essential.
• CIPD qualification or progress towards one welcomed.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical advice to managers on HR policies and employee matters.
• Support employee relations cases, including absence, performance, disciplinary and grievance matters.
• Coordinate recruitment, onboarding and employee changes.
• Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation.
• Support training, development and performance-review activities.
• Assist with payroll information, reporting and HR administration; help review and improve HR policies and processes.
• Support wider people and culture projects.
• Promote an inclusive, engaged and high-performing workplace.

What we’re looking for

• Previous experience in an HR Officer, HR Advisor or similar generalist role
• A good understanding of HR processes and current employment legislation
• Confidence supporting managers with employee matters
• Strong communication, organisation and relationship-building skills
• A proactive and approachable working style
• The ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
• A CIPD qualification, or progress towards one, would be welcomed
• Experience within manufacturing, engineering or a similar environment would be advantageous but is not essential
