Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced HR Digital / Workday Programme Lead to take ownership of our HR Digital Roadmap and lead a portfolio of Workday optimisation, new capability and wider HR technology initiatives.
This is not a generic programme management role. We need someone with deep and broad Workday HCM expertise who can shape the roadmap, challenge solution design and suppliers, and lead delivery through to business adoption.
Key Responsibilities and Requirements
- Deep Workday HCM experience, with strong Core HCM knowledge and broad exposure across modules such as Recruiting, Onboarding, Talent, Performance, Learning, Skills, Compensation, Absence, Time Tracking, Help and Reporting.
- Experience creating and delivering multi-year Workday / HR technology roadmaps, ideally in a post-implementation optimisation environment.
- Sufficient functional credibility to challenge Workday solution design, rather than relying entirely on external implementation or support partners.
- Strong programme leadership, including prioritisation, dependencies, RAID, governance, resourcing and senior reporting.
- Strong understanding of end-to-end HR processes and how technology supports HR operating models, shared services and employee/manager self-service.
- Experience managing and challenging systems integrators, application management providers and specialist suppliers.
- Ability to translate between HR, technology and senior business stakeholders.
- Evidence of delivering measurable improvements in automation, simplification, user experience, data quality or HR efficiency.
Preferred Candidate Backgrounds
- Workday Solution / Functional Leads who have progressed into broader roadmap leadership.
- HRIS / HR Technology Leads with hands-on Workday credibility.
- Workday Solution Architects with strong programme and stakeholder leadership.
- Senior Workday implementation consultants who have subsequently operated client-side.
- Candidates who have led Workday optimisation programmes and subsequent phases of development, rather than only initial implementations.
Candidates to Avoid
- Generic programme managers who happen to have delivered a Workday project.
- Single-module Workday specialists.
- Pure technical or integration specialists.
- BAU Workday administrators.
- Candidates heavily dependent on external implementation partners for functional and solution decisions.
