Job summary

Veran Performance Ltd is seeking a Workday Functional Design Lead to shape and guide the design of Workday solutions for clients. You will bridge business requirements and system configuration, leading functional design workshops and translating HR and finance processes into robust Workday designs.

This client-facing leadership role combines Workday expertise with consulting skills, influencing transformation and delivery across programmes.

Qualifications

• Proven Workday experience leading functional design on end-to-end implementations.
• Ability to run design workshops with senior stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of Workday configuration and leading practice.

Responsibilities

• Lead functional design across Workday implementations and transformation programmes, from discovery through to deployment and hypercare.
• Run design workshops with client stakeholders, capturing requirements and translating them into clear, scalable solution designs.
• Own key design artefacts, including design decisions, process maps, configuration workbooks and functional specifications.
• Advise clients on Workday leading practice, balancing standard functionality against bespoke requirements.
• Guide and mentor functional consultants and analysts, providing quality assurance on design and configuration.
• Work closely with technical, integration, data migration, testing and change teams to ensure a joined-up solution.
• Support test strategy and UAT, resolving design queries and defects.
• Manage design risks and dependencies, and elevate issues with clear recommendations.
• Contribute to proposals, solution shaping and business development activity where required.

You'll act as the bridge between business requirements and system configuration, leading functional design workshops, translating complex HR and finance processes into robust Workday designs, and guiding delivery teams through the full implementation lifecycle.

This is a client-facing leadership role for someone who combines Workday knowledge with consulting skills, and who wants to influence how organisations transform the way they work.

What you'll do:

• Lead functional design across Workday implementations and transformation programmes, from discovery through to deployment and hypercare
• Run design workshops with client stakeholders, capturing requirements and translating them into clear, scalable solution designs

What you'll bring:

• Workday experience, with a track record of leading functional design on end-to-end implementations
• Expertise in at least one Workday area, such as core HCM, Absence, Time Tracking, Talent and Performance, Recruiting, Compensation, benefits or payroll
• Understanding of Workday's configuration model
• Experience facilitating workshops and influencing senior stakeholders
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex design choices simply
• Workday certifications (e.g. Core HCM, Pro or Partner certifications)
• Experience within a consultancy or professional services environment
• Knowledge of Agile and hybrid delivery approaches
