Job Description:

Job Purpose

This role is jointly responsible for the creation and delivery of the People plan and strategy. The role understands the key areas of the business and supports managers to deliver improved people performance across all people metrics.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Contribute to the strategic direction of the People Team and identify/develop projects for the entire team.
  • Create accurate, optimized, and relevant reporting for managers (T&A/HRIS).
  • Ensure all system users are trained and proficient in system use.
  • Review policies regularly to ensure legal compliance and alignment with business needs.
  • Oversee complex grievance and disciplinary matters with significant business risk.
  • Plan and deliver structural or terms and conditions changes across the business.
  • Support communication processes across the site.
  • Conduct regular reviews with the People Advisor and People Administrator/Receptionist, setting clear goals and development plans.
  • Manage Occupational Health Case Management alongside the Occupational Health Nurse.
  • Coach and guide managers and team members on resolving people issues.
  • Develop managers to handle their teams effectively through coaching, development sessions, and group learning.
  • Document and optimize end-to-end administrative processes.
  • Analyze absence and sickness data to identify trends and recommend actions.

Key Attributes / Skills / Experience

  • At least a level 7 CIPD qualification or equivalent experience in a high-volume environment such as manufacturing, retail, or hospitality.
  • Knowledge of UK employment law with awareness of current developments.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to build rapport and trust quickly with management, providing confident advice.
  • Experience managing, coaching, and developing a team of People professionals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data extraction/reporting from HR systems.
  • Experience coaching managers in employment relations skills such as disciplinary, grievance, absence, and performance management.
