Job description

My client, a leading Litigation law firm, with an exceptional reputation, is looking to hire a HR Advisor to join their wider HR team in London.

This is an exciting opportunity for an HR professional looking to further develop their career within a highly successful and growing law firm. Working closely with the Head of HR, you will play a key role in delivering both operational and advisory HR support across the London and Dublin offices, while also contributing to a range of strategic people initiatives and projects.

The position offers exposure to the full employee lifecycle, involvement in HR transformation initiatives, and the opportunity to work directly with Partners, senior leaders, Associates, and Business Services teams. Support will also be provided for continued professional development, including CIPD studies.

As HR Advisor, you will be responsible for delivering a broad range of HR activities, combining day-to-day operational support with project-based work. This is a varied role that will suit someone who enjoys building relationships, improving processes, and providing pragmatic HR support within a professional services environment.

A significant focus of the role will be supporting the implementation and ongoing optimisation of a new HR Information System, whilst ensuring an excellent employee experience throughout the employee lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and update HR systems, employee records, and people data.
  • Support HR data integrity, confidentiality, and compliance with relevant policies and legislation.
  • Liaise with external payroll providers regarding monthly payroll changes, salary reviews, and bonus adjustments.
  • Administer employee benefits and act as a point of contact for benefits providers.
  • Support pension administration, including monthly contributions, auto-enrolment, salary sacrifice arrangements, and scheme changes.
  • Manage employee absence records and family leave administration.
  • Coordinate onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring a seamless employee experience.
  • Update HR policies, procedures, and internal HR resources as required.
  • Support annual appraisal, performance review, and feedback processes.
  • Produce HR reports, metrics, and people data for senior stakeholders.
  • Act as a key contact for recruitment agencies and external suppliers.
  • Coordinate interviews and recruitment logistics.
  • Prepare draft employment contracts and offer documentation.
  • Support hiring managers throughout the recruitment process.
  • Deliver a positive candidate and onboarding experience for all new starters.
  • Serve as a first point of contact for Associates and Business Services employees on a range of HR queries.
  • Provide guidance on HR policies, procedures, employee benefits, and best practice.
  • Support managers with employee relations matters, including performance management, escalating more complex issues where appropriate.
  • Assist in the review and enhancement of HR processes and policies to ensure legal compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Support salary review and bonus administration processes.
  • Assist with employee engagement initiatives, surveys, and action planning.
  • Play a pivotal role in the implementation and ongoing development of a new HR Information System.
  • Support system testing, process mapping, data migration, and user training.
  • Act as a key HR systems user and champion continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Produce meaningful HR reports and management information using HR systems data.
  • Support wider people initiatives relating to engagement, wellbeing, inclusion, and organisational development.
  • Contribute to change management and business improvement projects.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Previous experience in an HR Advisor or similar generalist HR role.
  • A sound understanding of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Experience supporting employee relations matters and advising managers on day-to-day people issues.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • A professional, discreet, and confidential approach.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to work independently.
  • Experience working within a professional services environment would be advantageous, although it is not essential.
Why apply?
  • Exposure to a broad and varied HR generalist role.
  • Close partnership with senior stakeholders and leadership teams.
  • Involvement in HR transformation and systems implementation projects.
