Job summary

Totum Partners is seeking an experienced HR Advisor to join its established HR function on a 12 month fixed-term contract. The role provides practical, commercially focused people advice across a broad range of HR matters, supporting a diverse employee population and working closely with HR Business Partners and business leaders.

The successful candidate will manage employee relations cases, contribute to people programmes, and develop strong stakeholder relationships.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a generalist HR Advisor or HR Officer role.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Experience managing employee relations cases from start to finish.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • The confidence to build credibility with managers and employees across the business.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A collaborative and solution-focused approach.
  • Good analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • An interest in continuous improvement and developing their HR expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advice and guidance to managers and employees on HR policies, procedures and employment legislation.
  • Manage a range of employee relations cases including disciplinaries, grievances, absence management, performance concerns, investigations and redundancy processes.
  • Support managers in resolving people issues effectively and consistently.
  • Escalate complex matters where appropriate and work closely with senior HR colleagues on sensitive cases.
  • Partner with HR Business Partners to deliver people solutions that support business objectives.
  • Develop a strong understanding of assigned business areas and provide proactive HR support.
  • Build effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Act as a trusted first point of contact for HR-related queries.
  • Support delivery of key annual HR activities including performance reviews, salary review processes, workforce planning and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Assist with HR projects and change programmes across the wider people function.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, systems and ways of working.
  • Contribute ideas that enhance employee experience and operational effectiveness.
  • Monitor HR metrics and identify trends, risks and areas for improvement.
  • Support reporting requirements and maintain accurate people data.
  • Keep up to date with employment law developments and emerging HR best practice.
  • Share knowledge and contribute to the ongoing development of the wider HR team.

Supporting a diverse employee population, this role offers the opportunity to work closely with HR Business Partners and business leaders, providing practical, commercially focused people advice across a broad range of HR matters.

Key Responsibilities include:

Employee Relations & HR Advisory

  • Provide advice and guidance to managers and employees on HR policies, procedures and employment legislation.
