Job summary

Robertson Group is seeking an HR Advisor in Edinburgh to provide efficient employee relations support and proactive HR guidance aligned with the Group HR strategy. You will work closely with Managing Directors and Senior Leaders to manage ER caseloads and drive business-focused HR solutions.

You will deliver HR services across assigned units, build relationships, ensure policy compliance, and lead on HR reporting to identify trends and improvement opportunities.

Qualifications

  • HR degree or equivalent required.
  • Chartered or graduate member of CIPD or relevant qualification preferred.
  • Commercial awareness and CPD commitment expected.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills essential.
  • Proven experience handling ER caseloads and data-driven HR reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver an effective HR service to assigned business areas; assist line managers with policy implementation.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and leaders.
  • Provide professional HR advice, monitor practices, and ensure policy compliance.
  • Lead case management across business areas, handle attendance, performance, grievances, restructures and post re-evaluations.
  • Produce regular HR reports, identify trends and opportunities for improvement.

The HR Advisor role provides efficient HR employee relations support to the business units ensuring the effective delivery of the agreed Group HR strategy and providing proactive, business focused HR support and advice. The HR Advisor will ensure effective management of employee relations cases across specific business units. Working closely with Managing Directors and their Senior Leadership teams, regional presence and support is a key aspect of the role.

What you'll do:
  • Deliver an effective HR service to the assigned business areas, assisting line managers to understand and implement policies and procedures and in line with best practice in people management.
  • Build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Liaise closely with business leaders and managers to monitor HR practices and ensure compliance providing professional advice and guidance.
  • Lead in case management across your business areas, complex attendance issues, performance management, grievance, restructures, redundancies, and re-evaluation of posts in accordance with both policies and procedures.
  • Ensure consistency and compliance with case management highlighting trends for the wider HR team learning.
  • Support when required the development and implementation of HR policies and update Employee Handbooks as appropriate. Ensuring that policies are kept up to date on all relevant drives.
  • Lead on the production of HR reports on a regular basis on such topics as employee engagement, sickness absence, turnover, analysing trends and highlighting improvement opportunities to the HR Manager, SLT and Heads of Business.
  • Monitor trends in employment practice and employment law to advise on appropriate pro-active action.
What you'll need:
  • HR Degree or equivalent
  • Chartered or Graduate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development or relevant qualification
  • Commercially aware
  • Committed to CPD
  • Focused and highly motivated
  • Planning/prioritising and time-management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbally and writing
  • Experience of handling demanding ER caseloads
  • Confident in analysing data and interpreting trends
  • Strong report writing skills
  • Ability to cope under pressure
  • Knowledge and understanding of various sectors of the Group and able to work collaboratively across all teams
  • Must be able to work independently to achieve deadlines and manage priorities, and maintaining regular communication channels with the wider team
  • Focused on continuous improvement
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
