The McDermott group is seeking an HSEQ Advisor based in Perth, Scotland. This role is vital in maintaining high standards in health, safety, environmental protection, and quality management.

Overview of the Role
  • HSEQ Officer

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships
  • Manage liaison with HSEQ auditors to maintain company accreditations
  • Create, monitor, and update procedures within the Quality Management System
  • Coach and advise employees and management on HSEQ matters to ensure legal compliance
  • Plan and conduct audits, documenting successes and areas for improvement
  • Provide training on HSEQ topics to staff
  • Ensure company processes meet their intended outcomes
  • Report on HSEQ performance and suggest improvements
  • Promote customer focus throughout the organization
  • Maintain the integrity of the HSEQ management system
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement risk reduction strategies
  • Outline and enforce safe operational procedures considering hazards
  • Perform regular site inspections for policy adherence
  • Ensure safety and legal compliance of working practices
  • Develop health and safety strategies and internal policies
  • Lead internal training sessions on QHSE topics
  • Keep records of inspections, incidents, and produce reports
  • Stay updated on legislation and industry developments
  • Participate in IOSH seminars and read professional journals
  • Produce management reports, newsletters, and bulletins
  • Ensure safe installation of equipment
  • Manage disposal of hazardous substances (e.g., asbestos, COSHH)
  • Advise on fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, machinery safeguarding, and occupational diseases
  • Oversee emergency procedures, signage, PPE, and COSHH controls
  • Qualifications: NEBOSH General or equivalent
  • Demonstrate passion and robust knowledge in HSEQ fields
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, meeting deadlines
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong knowledge of risk assessments, COSHH, RIDDOR, DSE regulations
  • Auditor training/experience preferred
  • Hands-on approach to implementing processes and change
  • Full UK driving license and willingness to travel
  • Right to work in the UK / IDLR or Settled Status (no sponsorships provided)
