Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace, Llay Wrexham, has an exciting opportunity for a HSE Manager (Machining).

• Full Time Permanent Contract
• 39 hours per week
• Location: Llay, Wrexham, LL12 0PB
• Unionised site – works in partnership with Unite the Union

To lead, deliver, and maintain a positive HSE culture throughout the Wrexham sites. This involves ensuring the effective implementation of management strategies and action plans to exceed client expectations and promote accident prevention. The HSE Manager will serve as the primary professional leader for HSE matters, supporting and advising operational management, employees, and subcontractors.

The individual will also be responsible for ensuring Magellan’s compliance with all relevant legislation, providing guidance on maintaining and achieving compliance, and ensuring that HSE policies, procedures, and manuals are current and accessible.

Essential Responsibilities

• Implement and manage HSE Management Systems (ISO 14001, ISO 45001, OSHA VPP)
• Manage local council environment permits (IPPC) and drive environmental improvement programs
• Monitor and review legislation to ensure legal compliance
• Develop and maintain audit schedules for various assurance levels
• Disseminate HSE information and updates from safety organizations
• Promote a culture of incident reporting and respond appropriately
• Coordinate with training managers to ensure adequate HSE training programs
• Review and approve process and equipment plans, and manage contractor safety
• Manage and mentor the HSE team, including an HSE Advisor
• Lead emergency response efforts and interface with authorities
• Conduct incident investigations and develop preventive controls
• Manage safety inspections and audits

Position Requirements

Academic

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemistry, environmental, or occupational health sciences, or equivalent experience

Experience

• 5-10 years of relevant HSE experience
• 5+ years managing HSE personnel across multiple sites/regions, supporting European operations
• Experience in aerospace manufacturing is advantageous but not mandatory
