What you'll be doing

As a key member of the site leadership team, you will develop site management systems, improvement strategies, and performance metrics. You will establish site governance and provide professional support, coaching, and guidance on operational health, safety, and environment matters. You must be a technical expert with detailed knowledge of HS&E law and its application.

• Develop, manage, and embed effective HS&E policies and procedures across the site to ensure compliance and continuous improvement, aligning with Group standards.
• Provide legal and technical guidance to leaders and supervisors, supporting initiatives to embed controls that mitigate risks from HS&E legislation.
• Engage internal stakeholders to design and implement programmes that enhance the HS&E culture, behaviours, and site performance metrics.
• Develop and deliver the site’s Health, Safety and Environment strategy to improve overall performance.
• Use data, KPIs, and governance to drive improvements and risk management.
• Design local arrangements for group reporting and governance.
• Establish systems for incident investigation and ensure effective reporting.
• Coach and develop site HSE capabilities, maximizing team performance and expertise.
• Manage relationships with external stakeholders such as EA, HSE, customers, auditors, and the community.
• Ensure legal compliance in incident reporting and manage enforcement visits and audits.
• Lead the site’s audit programmes, identifying areas for improvement.
• Assess security needs and manage security teams to enhance site security and compliance.

• A professional qualification in H&S Management, preferably at degree level.
• Proven experience in H&S management, ideally within manufacturing.
• Practitioner member of IEMA (PIEMA) or working towards environmental qualifications.
• Up-to-date knowledge of HSE legislation and technical developments.
• Additional knowledge in Occupational Health and Security Management.
• Strong soft skills to motivate and influence stakeholders at all levels and to be an effective member of the site leadership team.
