Job summary

Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a self-motivated sterile services technician to join the decontamination team in Exeter. You will decontaminate, inspect, and pack surgical instruments and medical devices, and operate washer-disinfectors and tracking systems to ensure safe, ready-to-use equipment.

You will work within strict quality standards, keep accurate records, and collaborate with colleagues to meet service demands.

Qualifications

  • Must follow strict quality standards and procedures.
  • Desirable but not essential: experience in sterile services or decontamination; full training provided.
  • Ability to work in a technical, process-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Decontamination, inspection, assembly, and packing of surgical instruments and medical devices
  • Operation of washer-disinfectors, sterilisers, and tracking systems
  • Ensuring all work complies with departmental procedures, quality standards, and HTM 01 01 guidance
  • Maintaining accurate documentation and traceability records
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to meet service demands and turnaround times
  • Supporting a clean, safe, and well organised working environment
About You
  • Has excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach
  • Works well as part of a team and communicates clearly
  • Can follow strict procedures and quality standards
  • Is comfortable working in a technical, process driven environment
  • Is willing to undertake training and development within the role
  • Previous experience in sterile services or a decontamination environment is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.

Working Pattern

Early Shift - Monday - Friday 08:00 - 16:00

Late Shift - Monday - Friday 13:30 - 21:30

One weekend in Four 08:00 - 16:00
