Job summary

Airbus Operations Limited in Filton, Bristol, offers a 12.5-month internship in its Social Policy and Industrial Relations (SPIR) Team. You will gain exposure to Employment Law and contribute to company-wide HR policies and guidance in a transnational setting.

Open to undergraduates in Law, Business, or HR, the placement combines research, policy drafting, and stakeholder engagement with flexible, hybrid working arrangements and a pathway into employment law and industrial relations.

Qualifications

• Ideally studying towards a Law, Business, or HR-related degree.
• Ability to listen, understand and communicate information.
• Proficiency in basic IT software such as Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office.
• Proactive attitude and teamwork orientation.
• Interest in creative solutions to complex problems.
• Experience in research and benchmarking to support decision making.
• Ability to conduct research and analyse legislative updates.

About us

The Social Policy and Industrial Relations (SPIR) Team is part of the UK Commercial Aircraft Human Resources function with the primary roles of: Ensuring compliance with employment legislation and external social policy; Informing Company policy and processes to ensure effective employee engagement and relations; Providing advice and solutions on industrial/employee relations topics. As part of this, engaging with stakeholders across the Company, including the Trade Union, is a key part of our activity within a dynamic environment - no day is the same! What will you be doing?

Develop an understanding of Social Policy and Industrial Relations in a transnational company; Gain knowledge of the Employment Law and see first hand how it drives business operations day to day; Be involved in various projects and topics across the employment law and industrial/employee relations spectrum, giving lots of opportunity and experience in this field of HR; Contribute to the research, drafting, and review of company-wide HR policies and guidance, gaining exposure to complex sensitive topics.

Your typical day may consist of

• Providing support in grievance and disciplinary and other HR procedures
• Developing and writing social/employment policies, including identifying the impacts on different stakeholders
• Researching, analysing trends and benchmarking of employment policy and law
• You will have the opportunity to take ownership of projects
• You will gain stakeholder management skills working closely with HR Business Partners.
• Trade Union representatives, and senior management.

Requirements

Our placements are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement. • Ideally studying towards a Law, Business, or HR-related degree, with an interest in Employment Law and Industrial Relations
• The ability to listen, understand and communicate information Proficiency in basic IT software, such as Google suite and/or Microsoft Office suite
• Exhibits a positive and proactive attitude to approach challenges and tasks within a team
• Interest in finding creative solutions to complex problems
• Experience in research and benchmarking to support decision making
• Demonstrated ability to conduct research, analyse legislative updates, and support decision-making

Security Clearance

You will be subject to a BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) check. You may also need to gain UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control, depending on the role.
