Henlee Resourcing & Consulting Limited is seeking an experienced HR Manager for a permanent, full-time role based in Stonehouse or Wolverhampton, with travel between sites. You will lead employee relations, governance, and development initiatives across two businesses in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate holds CIPD Level 5 or above, has strong ER experience, and can manage complex HR cases with up-to-date UK employment law knowledge.

  • Significant experience in a standalone Senior HR Advisor/HR Manager role, ideally in manufacturing, engineering or industrial sectors.
  • Strong employee relations experience.
  • Up-to-date UK employment law knowledge.
  • Experience managing complex HR cases independently.
  • Excellent investigation and report writing skills.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills.
  • Ability to challenge constructively and professionally.
  • Ability to manage a varied workload and prioritise effectively.
  • Full UK driving license.

Responsibilities

  • Lead employee relations cases from start to finish and manage investigations.
  • Provide practical employment law guidance and update policies.
  • Support performance management, succession and workforce planning.
  • Oversee recruitment campaigns and onboarding processes.
  • Coach managers to develop people and handle difficult conversations.
  • Lead HR improvement projects and contribute to engagement and culture initiatives.

Henlee Resourcing has been retained by this niche manufacturing, engineering and construction business with bases in Stonehouse and Wolverhampton to search for their new HR Manager. This is a new role that’s been created due to growth and reports to a progressive Director.

Hours 7am – 3pm / 8am to 4pm (37.5 per week)
Stonehouse (Stroud) or Wolverhampton with frequent travel between the sites
Salary c. £50,000 plus car allowance and benefits package

Reporting directly to the Director, this role will work with managers across both businesses, providing professional HR support and commercially focused people solutions. The successful candidate will lead employee relations matters, provide expert employment law guidance, support organisational development and ensure the businesses remain compliant with employment legislation and HR best practice.

This role is ideal for an experienced HR professional who enjoys working autonomously, building strong relationships with managers and making a genuine impact within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

About the role / key responsibilities:
Employee Relations
  • Lead and manage employee relations cases from start to finish.
  • Conduct investigations into disciplinary, grievance, absence and conduct matters.
  • Support managers with formal meetings and hearings.
  • Prepare investigation reports and recommendations.
  • Ensure fair, consistent and legally compliant decision making.
  • Advise managers on performance management and capability issues.
  • Support long-term sickness and occupational health processes.
Employment Law and Compliance
  • Provide practical advice on employment law and HR best practice.
  • Maintain and update company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation.
  • Monitor legal developments and recommend appropriate business changes.
  • Support GDPR and employee data protection compliance.
  • Assist with HR audits and compliance reviews.
Performance and Talent Management
  • Support probation reviews and performance management processes.
  • Coach managers on employee development and performance improvement.
  • Assist with succession planning and workforce planning.
  • Support learning and development initiatives across the business.
Recruitment and Onboarding
  • Manage recruitment campaigns for salaried and operational roles.
  • Work with recruitment agencies and direct recruitment platforms.
  • Screen CV’s and coordinate interviews.
  • Conduct interviews where appropriate.
  • Support onboarding and induction processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve recruitment attraction and retention.
Manager Coaching and Support
  • Act as a trusted advisor to managers.
  • Build management capability through coaching and guidance.
  • Support managers with difficult conversations and people management challenges.
HR Projects
  • Support organisational change initiatives.
  • Lead specific HR improvement projects.
  • Contribute to employee engagement and culture initiatives.
  • Review and improve HR processes and systems.
About you:
  • CIPD Level 5 qualified or above.

We are looking for somebody who is a “can do” / pragmatic generalist who possesses excellent interpersonal relationship building skills – ideally gained from within manufacturing, engineering or construction. In an ideal world you will also be qualified to level 5 CIPD but it’s your experience and pragmatic / progressive approach that is of most importance.
