HR Manager

We are looking for an HR manager to join our HR organization at Vaisala in a stand-alone role based in Birmingham, UK. This is a key position where you’ll take ownership of all HR responsibilities in the UK, covering our sites in Birmingham, Harpenden, and Aberdeen. You’ll report directly to the HR Director based at Vaisala headquarters in Vantaa, Finland.

What's your role?

You will be part of our HR EMEA team of talented professionals, including local HR Managers supporting other EMEA countries, Talent Acquisition, and Payroll colleagues. Together with the team, you will have an excellent opportunity to support business success by delivering efficient, people-focused HR services across the EMEA region. In this role you will be working in close co-operation with local UK managers, global payroll, and UK Country Manager.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Act as the primary HR contact for all UK sites, managing the full spectrum of HR activities independently, and supporting around 85 employees across various teams and business functions
  • Manage employee relations in line with UK employment law, providing expert guidance to managers
  • Provide end-to-end recruitment support in line with global guidelines, including talent attraction, evaluation, and advising managers on job offers
  • Develop and maintain local HR policies, ensuring compliance with legislation and alignment with industry benchmarks
  • Oversee compensation structures and benefits, including market benchmarking and coordination with global payroll
  • Implement the people strategy and global HR programs locally, ensuring alignment in areas such as recruitment, performance management, and talent development
  • Proactively participate in people management annual clock activities, including informing and training managers and employees as required locally

What will you bring?

  • Strong HR generalist experience, ideally within a global organization
  • In-depth knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices
  • Proven experience in managing employee relations cases
  • Proficiency in HR systems; SAP SuccessFactors experience is an advantage
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and build strong working relationships in a matrixed, multicultural environment
