Your new company

This is a large public sector organisation - a not-for-profit social enterprise. The organisation is committed to serving our communities as a Community Interest Company. Their activities benefit all members of the population within their coverage areas.

Your new role

HRD / Associate Director of People, 6-month FTC, up to £87k pa + benefits. Public sector organisation, hybrid working with Bristol office. You will support the Chief People Officer in building people practices, lead the People/HR function, and establish a robust framework supported by efficient, client-focused systems and processes. You will oversee the EDI & Staff Engagement functions and embed good people management practices aligned with the organisation's values—being innovative, inclusive, and influential. Your role includes coaching managers to become confident, empowered leaders who inspire their teams, and ensuring employees have access to relevant development opportunities to perform effectively and reach their full potential. You will promote regular, constructive dialogue to ensure staff feel valued, well-informed, and engaged with the organisation’s objectives.

What you'll need to succeed

  1. Knowledge of human and organisational change, learning, and development.
  2. Understanding of organisational development strategies for positive outcomes.
  3. Knowledge of management and leadership theories and best practices.
  4. Skills to develop and utilize tools for team and individual development.
  5. Ability to influence stakeholders across challenging environments, demonstrating political astuteness.
  6. Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex information at all organisational levels.
  7. Strong project management skills: planning, delivering on time, managing expectations, and reporting progress.
  8. Ability to act as a role model and advocate for best people practices.
