Job summary

Pertemps Plymouth is seeking an experienced HR Advisor for a four-month temporary assignment in Plymouth. The role is 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a pay rate of £21.14 per hour and an immediate start date (26 October 2026 target) to 14 February 2027.

You will provide professional HR advice to managers on a broad range of HR matters, support change projects including restructures and TUPE transfers, and act as HR Advisor on Employee Relations cases, guiding chairs through hearings

Qualifications

• Chartered CIPD member or CIPD Level 5 with progress toward Chartered Membership.
• Extensive experience in generalist HR advisory.
• Strong Employee Relations experience with hearings and appeals.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
• Able to manage a varied workload in a fast-paced environment.
• Public sector/local government experience is advantageous.

HR Advisor

Location: Plymouth, PL1

Rate: £21.14 per hour

Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Assignment: Temporary position (26 October 2026 - 14 February 2027)

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced HR professional to join a well established organisation on an initial four month temporary assignment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide professional HR advice and support to managers on a broad range of general HR matters.
• Support organisational change projects, including restructures and TUPE transfers.
• Act as the HR Advisor on Employee Relations cases, attending hearings and appeals and providing guidance to Chairs throughout formal processes.
• Advise on disciplinary, grievance, capability and absence management matters.
• Contribute to the development, review and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
• Ensure HR practices remain compliant with current employment legislation and organisational requirements.

Candidate Requirements

• Chartered Member of the CIPD, or CIPD Level 5 qualified and actively working towards Chartered Membership.
• Significant experience within a generalist HR Advisory role.
• Strong Employee Relations experience, with confidence supporting formal hearings and appeals.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills.
• Ability to manage a varied workload and work effectively within a fast-paced environment.
• Previous Local Government or wider Public Sector experience would be advantageous.
