DP World is seeking an HR Apprentice to join the People team at London Gateway on a 2-year fixed-term contract. You will own the new starter process, work with managers and senior stakeholders, and gain hands-on experience in HR administration within a growing team.

You will receive development support, work on a broad range of HR activities, and have the opportunity to study while you work. No extensive HR experience is required, just a proactive and professional approach.

DP World are currently recruiting for an HR Apprentice to join our People team at London Gateway on a 2-year fixed-term contract.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing People team, with this role created as a result of continued growth and internal progression within the team. It’s a great time to join us as we continue to develop our People function and invest in the next generation of HR talent.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to build a career in Human Resources and gain valuable, hands‑on experience within a busy and dynamic business environment. You’ll work alongside an experienced People team who will support your development, while giving you real responsibility from day one. You’ll take ownership of the new starter process, work closely with managers and senior stakeholders, support HR administration and systems, and gain exposure to a broad range of HR activities.

We’re open to different learning styles and backgrounds, and you don’t need extensive HR experience to be successful. We’re looking for someone who is switched on, organised, confident meeting people face‑to‑face, and genuinely committed to developing a career in HR. We’ll support you in finding the right apprenticeship provider and give you dedicated time to complete your studies alongside your role.

How You Will Contribute

• Take ownership of the new starter process from offer acceptance through to onboarding, ensuring everything is completed accurately and on time.
• Prepare and issue employment contracts, letters, pre‑employment documentation, and other new starter paperwork.
• Coordinate pre‑employment checks, including right to work documentation, references, and background checks.
• Organise and deliver induction activities, working with hiring managers and senior stakeholders to ensure new starters have a positive onboarding experience.
• Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems, ensuring information is kept up to date and handled in line with GDPR requirements.
• Act as a key point of contact for routine HR queries, providing professional support and escalating more complex matters where appropriate.
• Support the People team with employee relations activities, including attending meetings, taking accurate notes, and preparing relevant documentation.
• Support learning and development activities, including coordinating training, maintaining records, and monitoring completion.
• Produce basic HR reports and employee data, ensuring information is accurate and identifying any discrepancies.
• Support HR audits, compliance activities, and wider HR projects as required.
• Work closely with the wider People team and business stakeholders, building strong relationships and gaining exposure to different areas of HR.
• Develop your knowledge of employment legislation, HR policies, processes, and best practice through both practical experience and your apprenticeship studies.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and take on a variety of ad‑hoc HR and administrative tasks.
• Represent DP World professionally and demonstrate our values, principles, and culture in everything you do.

What You Will Bring

• A genuine interest in building a career in Human Resources and a commitment to completing an HR apprenticeship.
• Previous HR experience is not essential, although some office, administration, customer service, or other workplace experience would be beneficial.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
• Excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail.
• Confident communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with employees, managers, and senior stakeholders.
• A proactive and curious approach, with the confidence to ask questions, find information, and learn independently.
• A professional and approachable manner, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people.
• Reliable, positive, and adaptable, with a willingness to get involved and take ownership of tasks.
• The ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
• A Level 3 qualification in Business Administration, HR, or a similar subject would be desirable, although not essential.
• Previous customer service or stakeholder-facing experience would be advantageous.
• Willingness to undertake a CIPD-accredited HR apprenticeship at the appropriate level. If you already hold a Level 3 qualification, we can explore a Level 5 pathway where appropriate.
• A full UK driving licence, due to the location of the role.
• Eligibility to work in the UK.
